The Snow Moon
The Snow Moon
This month's full moon is in Leo and is known as the snow moon. It will occur on February 16th (or 17th if you are in the Southern Hemisphere).
Synchronicities with this moon:
If you are in the Northeastern United States, the sunset will coincide with the full moonrise on the evening of the 16th, so if you can find a viewing spot with a flat horizon, you may be able to watch both at the same time.
Or, if you're up before the sun on the morning of the 16th, you may be able to see Venus, Mars, and even Mercury (just above the horizon) in the hour just before dawn.
Folks in the Southern Hemisphere will have an even greater chance of seeing Mercury as it will be higher in the sky from that viewpoint.
In Texas, we are seeing Jupiter very bright and low in the sky—in the evenings just before and after sunset. The last two nights a gorgeous waxing gibbous moon has also been visible.
